Beyond Giving: How the Rotary Foundation Drives Lasting Community Change

Peter Mbui graduated as a civil engineer from University of Nairobi and worked for 3 years in the ministry of public works. He then partnered with his brother who is also an Engineer and they founded Rift valley Machinery Services ltd, a successful machinery business in Nakuru which later moved its head office in Nairobi. His classification is Machinery Distribution.

His service career started as a member of Nakuru round table organization for 9 years before joining the Rotary club of Nakuru in 2001. He rose through the ranks to the position of President.

He transferred to RC Nairobi East where he once again served as President before being appointed as Assistant Governor, Country Chair, District Secretary, Vice Conference Chair, District attendance Chair, District Friendship Exchange Chair, District Alumni Chair and served in various committees and task forces including tour protocol committees for 7 visiting RI Presidents and President-Elects before his appointment as District Governor in 2017/18. As a Past District Governor, he served as an Assistant Rotary Coordinator, in charge of several Districts in Africa and also as the Chairman of the first international Projects fair in our District and in 2022 he completed his 3-year term as District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair (DRFC) in charge of Global Grants and Rotary Foundation fundraising activities. He has attended 25 DCAs, 7 Zone Institutes and 12 RI conventions. He currently serves the Endowments and Major Gifts Advisor (E/MGA) in charge of 7 districts in East and Southern Africa and also as District’s representative to the Council on legislation.

Peter is a Major Donor to TRF and a member of the Paul Harris Society (PHS)

Peter is very widely travelled having visited all continents. His hobbies include travelling, reading, Leisure golf and keeping fit, but his main hobby is hiking and he has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Kenya 3 times, Mt. Longonot 11 times, as well as many Mountains and hills in Kenya, USA, Europe and Asia. He is also a Published author.

Peter is married to Harriet and they are blessed with 3 grown up children, a son in law and 2 grandchildren.
